The Account Overview balances may need to be recalculated, if transactions or changes to transactions do not correctly reflect the amounts they should total.
If the amounts in the Account Overview on a File for Time, Fees, Expenses, Taxes or Interest or their totals do not correctly balance, but calculations show the amounts are correct for Time and Fees or the Taxes / Interest the Recalculate Balance may need to be run to correct this.
Before running Client Balances - Recalculate, update Amicus Attorney by CARET to the latest available release.
Ensure all staff are logged out of Amicus, and a backup of Amicus Attorney by CARET has been performed, before running the Client Balances - Recalculate.
If the Amicus Support has previously corrected balances from within the database DO NOT use the Recalculate utility.
To run the Client Balances - Recalculate utility to refresh the display balances in Client and File Account Overviews.
Ensure all Firm Members have logged out of Amicus Attorney by CARET.
Perform a backup of your firms Amicus Attorney by CARET database.
To perform the backup, log into Amicus Attorney by CARET as an Administrator and go to Firm Settings > Maintenance – Utilities.
Once the backup is complete, to the right of Client Balances click the Recalculate button.
Select the individual File needing to have balances recalculated.
Check the box to authorize I have verified that a backup has already been performed.
Click Yes to begin the process.
The message will appear stating:
This utility should only be used at the direction of technical support and after a database backup has been performed.
Are you sure you want to recalculate balances.Click Yes to the message and this will process the recalculations. Once the process is complete a message will appear indicating Recalculate Complete. Immediately look through your Files to confirm both the File that had the recalculation performed is corrected as well as other Files are still correct and haven't been affected by the Recalculate utility. If other Files were affected which should not have been, the backup will need to be restored and the Amicus Support will need to be involved to investigate the cause.
