This article will show you how to export an AbacusLaw report to a comma-separated value file. CSV files can be used to view reports in a spreadsheet application (such as Microsoft Excel), for mailmerges, or to export data in a universal format for importing into another program.
- Go to File > Reports > Matters
- This can be done for Matters, Names, Events and Notes.

- Click Report, select the report you like to use and click Done.
- Click Query>Query Manager, select the query you would like to use and click Done.
- Click Output to
- Select Data-Merge File and Click Done
- Select Comma-Delimited and Click Done
- Click Print
- Select a location, give the file a name and click Save
- Ensure that, when you are saving the file, the file name ends in .csv (e.g. report.csv). If you do not, it will NOT open properly.
- When opening the file, you may need to instruct Windows what program to use when opening it. For example, if you would like to open it in Excel, select Microsoft Excel (note that you may need to browse for EXCEL.EXE, typically in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16 in Office 2016 installs).
