This article applies to the ADS version of AbacusLaw by CARET.
Full Errors:
- Error 301: Work Area Not Indexed
- Error 5016: Advantage Could Not Find an Index Order with the Specified Name
- Error 3010: Unknown Alias Name Used with Field Name in Index Key
- Error 7038: Invalid Record Number
These errors usually mean data that is being called is not indexed or has a corrupt index.
Follow these steps to re-create the AbacusLaw by CARET index files.
If you are able to open AbacusLaw by CARET
- Have all users exit AbacusLaw by CARET, MessageSlips, and Abacus Accounting.
- Select File > Utilities > Reindex.
- After the reindex has completed, try the same action that caused the error before again.
If you are NOT able to open AbacusLaw by CARET
- Have all users exit AbacusLaw by CARET, MessageSlips, and Abacus Accounting.
- Navigate to the Abacus root directory (e.g., \Abacus\v23\data01\).
- In the File Explorer, click the dropdown arrow on the Type column, and check the box next to ADI file, so that only files of this type are displayed.
- Delete all *.adi files.
Be sure that you delete all files ending in ADI, and NO OTHER FILES. ADI files are index files, and do not store data. Other database files (ADTs and ADMs), store actual data, and deleting them will delete your database!
If you are running AbacusLaw by CARET v23.16 or earlier, also delete all .cdx files, but DO NOT delete any .dbf or .fpt files.
The next time AbacusLaw by CARET is started, it will recreate the index files, and should function normally.
