How to increase the length of a field in abacus

Please ensure that before making changes to the database structure that all users have logged out of AbacusLaw, Abacus Accounting, and create a backup of you data. You cannot change items in the database while there are people currently using the database.

1. Go to File, Setup, then Database Structures.
   
   
   
   
2. Select which database field you wish to edit by selecting the “Database to Edit” dropdown below. In this example, we will increase the company name field from 30 to 40.
   
   
   
   
3. Double Click on the length box of the field you wish to change.
   
   
   
   
   
   
4. Click Done.
5. Click “Execute Changes and create new databases ” to commit your changes.
