Documents can be linked to Names or Matters in two different ways:
In AbacusLaw by CARET:
- Open your desired Names or Matters record.

Select the Docs tab.

Click the Add button at the bottom of the window. This will open the Document Details window.
- Enter the full path of the file or click the Full path button to the left of the field and select the file from its location.
You can also complete the Meta-data fields so that future queries can easily locate the document and return more details it.
These fields include:
- Type
- Where
- Author
- Box #
- Status
- Form
- Notes
Another way to link documents to matters or names is to drag and drop:
In AbacusLaw by CARET:
- Open the desired Name or Matter record.

Select the Docs tab.

Click the Add button at the bottom of the window. This will open the Document Details window.

Locate the file using Windows Explorer and drag it from its location into the Docs window.

Click Yes when asked if you want to add the document to the database.

Complete the Meta-data fields as above if desired.
