How to Reindex the Abacus Database

Sometimes the links between records get confused. The first, best step is to run a Reindex.

1. Get all users out of everything Abacus (Law, Accounting, and MessageSlips) as well as Outlook.
   
2. If you get a message saying you need exclusive rights, someone is still in Abacus, and you cannot proceed. If everyone swears they are out, ultimately, you can have everyone simply shut down their PCs so that only the server is on and then do the reindex at the server.
   
3. Run the Reindex: File > Utilities > Reindex.
   
   
   You will not get a message saying that the Reindex is complete, so you need to watch it. When 60 seconds or so have passed without any dialog box open or any activity, it is finished.
   
   
4. Close and relaunch Abacus and check to see if your original issue persists.
