INTRODUCTION:
This article is intended for troubleshooting the following error:
Access denied: You do not have the rights to do this when saving a WordPerfect wpd file
PROCEDURE:
The “Access denied: you do not have the rights to do this” prompt is often a result of a network issue. The file that is being accessed is from a shared network drive. There are two common scenarios that lead to this error:
- It is possible that the file is opened in another application on your profile such as Word. If so, the file will be in read-only mode and you will not be able to write or make any changes to it.
- It is possible another user is accessing the file. This will also result in the file being in 'read-only' mode and you will not be able to save your changes.
To resolve this issue, restart Word Perfect and close any word processing programs on your system. If the problem persists, restart your computer.
Note: To prevent losing changes to the document, save the file with a different & unique file name. You may then access the file later and continue to make modifications.
Lastly, if problems exist, contact APC Support for assisting in verifying the file is not being accessed, and when necessary verification of the file permissions.
