INTRODUCTION:
Scanning to your Abacus Private Cloud server is a time-saver that many of our clients enjoy. These are the three tried and true options:
- Scan to a local drive or folder
- TSScan
- Scan to FTP
APPLIES TO:
Users who wish to scan documents from their local scanner directly into the cloud.
REQUIREMENTS:
Twain compliant scanner
PROCEDURE:
Option 1: Create and Map Your Local Drive
With this method, you will make your computer's local C: drive available on your cloud (i.e., map it) — this is a one-time setup. You would from then on scan to your local computer and move the scanned file from the mapped C: drive within the cloud to wherever you want it (e.g., a folder on your X: drive).

Option 2: TSScan
You can use TerminalWorks TSScan, an optional 3rd-party software tool that enables you to scan directly to a folder on your Abacus Private Cloud server. The software comes with a free 25-day trial and then does require purchase after the trial expires. This is a very commonly chosen solution among APC clients.
If you would like to try the 25-day trial, simply contact APC Support to get this set up and started. If you do opt to go with the full version of TSScan, you can purchase either directly from TerminalWorks or through CARET for the same price.
Note: TSScan on Macs has naming limitations. Scanned documents with spaces or underscores (“_”) between the words, the final name has random letters inserted for the spaces and special characters.

Option 3: Scan to FTP
With this option, your scanner will be set up with a destination IP Address and user account to scan documents directly to a folder on your Abacus Private Cloud server. You will want to make sure, either with your IT professional or the scanner manufacturer, that your current scanner is TWAIN compliant and supports Scan to FTP. You additionally will need to provide proof of a static IP address for whitelisting.
The initial configuration of Scan to FTP does require 30 minutes of Professional Services (PS) time to implement. PS time is purchased in one-hour increments at $250/hour, and what you have left will remain on your account for future use.
If you have confirmed your scanner supports it and would like us to configure Scan to FTP, simply contact APC Support to get started.
