INTRODUCTION:

Perform the following steps if Microsoft Word is prompting you to insert a smart card.

PROCEDURE:

Press Windows key+R to open the Run application.
Type "mstsc" and click OK.
Click Show Options in the RDC window.
Open the Local Resources tab.
Click More (under Local devices and resources).
Verify that the Smart Cards checkbox is deselected. If it is selected, then deselect it.
Click OK.
Close the RDC window.
Open Word and verify that you are not prompted to insert a smart card.
