INTRODUCTION
This article reviews how to update Lacerte using the SSUP tool.
APPLIES TO
Assigned SSUP user updating Lacerte desktop program.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ensure all APC users are logged off the server
- Reboot server
- SSUP update will need to be run on every server where Lacerte is installed
Note: It is recommended to perform a reboot both before and after an update. Ensure that no users are accessing the program. Updates performed while users are active in the program can cause data corruption.
When initiating a reboot with SSUP, the server will reboot instantly. It may take 10 to 15 minutes to become accessible. If your server is still inaccessible after 15 minites please call APC Support.
PROCEDURE
Open the Year of Lacerte that you want to Update
Enter your Lacerte credentials and click “Sign In”
A Pop Up should come up prompting for Updates to be downloaded
Click on “Go To Lacerte Updates”
Click on “Update”
Click “Yes” to Download the Updates
Close the “Lacerte Optimization” Window
Click “Got it” on the next pop-up
Close Lacerte
A pop-up will come up saying “you are not within the Administrators group” This is an expected pop-up. Just click “OK”
Left-click on “Search Windows” in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Type “software center” in the search bar
Left-click on “Software Center” when it appears
Double Left click on “SSUP”
Left-click on “Install”
NOTE: It is recommended to perform a reboot both before and after an update.
Left-click on the checkbox next to "Initiate automatic reboot of the server after SSUP is closed.'
Left-click on “Browse”
Click on Drive where your Lacerte Data is (Examples are: “X:”, “Y:”, “D:”, “L:”, etc.)
Double-click on “Lacerte” Folder
Double-click on the “??tax” folder (?? Is the year of Lacerte you are updating)
Click on “TaxSetup”
Click on “Open”
Click on “Install” and let the application Update
Once the update has finished installing click “Close”
