How to Configure Amicus Attorney by CARET Reporting Services
NOTE: Amicus Reporting Services cannot be configured on a Windows Domain Controller. This is a limitation of Microsoft SQL Server.
This article is specific to SQL Server 2016 or higher. If running SQL 2014 or SQL 2014 contact Amicus Attorney Client Services for assistance.
SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) must be downloaded and installed prior to configuring the Amicus Reporting Services, as it is an external application from the SQL Server application.
- To configure reporting services log into the Amicus Application Server as the Windows Administrator account that MSSQL and Amicus were installed under.
- Locate the ..\Amicus\Amicus Attorney Server\SmartClient\Server folder. Right click on the ReportServerConfiguration.exe and select Run as administrator.
- The Configuration form window appears requiring credentials to be entered.
- Amicus Instance: This is the name of the server, and the instance name created for the Amicus database. This can be located by bringing up the SQL Server Management Studio which will display the information in the Server name: field.
- SSRS Instance: This will be the same as the Amicus Instance name with the instance changed to SSRS.
- Windows User Name: This is to be the account that MSSQL and the Amicus Application Server were installed under.
- Windows User Password: The password for the Windows account that you are logged into which was used during the installation of MSSQL and Amicus Attorney by CARET.
- SQL User Name: This should be set to AmicusUser which is an internal account created by the Amicus application during installation.
-
SQL User Password: This is the password of the AmicusUser account.
- If a custom database password was set during the Amicus Attorney installation, this needs to be used. To test confirm you have the correct password, log into SQL Server Management Studio using the AmicusUser account and custom password. If SQL Server Management Studio doesn’t open using the Amicus User account and a password, the password must be updated via the Amicus Administrator access. Go to Office > Administration – Firm Settings. Click the Edit button beside the Database Password. When the OK is selected, a message will appear stating Unable to update report data sources, which is expected and can be ignored. Click OK, then Cancel.
- In the lower right corner is a checkbox for SQL 2019. If the version of SQL Server installed is not SQL 2019, this option should be unchecked.
- After entering all the required credentials, click OK.
If this fails to successfully complete, contact Amicus Attorney Client Services for assistance. - Once the configuration has completed successfully, log into Amicus Attorney as an Administrator.
- Go to Office > Administration > Firm Settings > General – Reporting Services.
- Click Test and a message should appear Test results are successful. You may now proceed to publish your Reports.
- After successfully Testing click the Publishing and this will publish the required reports.
If either the Test or Publish fails, contact Amicus Attorney Client Services for assistance.
After the reports have been successfully Published, they are now visible under the Advanced Reports in Attorney, and if the firm has Amicus Billing enabled they appear in the Reports on the Billing side.
