This error occurs when a later version of Abacus Accounting is installed on the server than the version of the main DLL used by Abacus Accounting on the workstation (AbacusAC23.dll). The DLL must match the version on the server for Abacus Accounting to function.
Typically, simply re-running the workstation installer will resolve this issue. If the installer does not start automatically after you close this error, you can run the workstation installer by running the file located at: Abacus\vXX\Programs\AbacusLaw WorkStation Standard Setup [Version numbers].msi.

If the error still recurs after re-running station, try the following.

Delete AbacusAC23.dll, then Re-Run Installer
- Navigate to your C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder (C:\Windows\System32, if your installation of Windows is 32-bit).
- Find the AbacusAC23.dll file.

Highlight AbacusAC23.dll, and delete it.
You will need to be logged in as an Administrator account (or provide the credentials of one) to be able to delete the file.
- Re-run AbacusLaw WorkStation Standard Setup [Version numbers].msi from the Abacus\vXX\Programs folder. It will replace this file.
Ensure Workstation Installer Matches AbacusLaw by CARET Version
If the issue persists after completing the above steps, it is possible that the workstation installers are from an older version of AbacusLaw by CARET than the version that you are running. This may occur if the update installer on the server did not complete fully and was not able to replace the workstation installer files, or if you are running AbacusLaw WorkStation Standard Setup [Version numbers].msi from a different Abacus folder than where AbacusLaw by CARET is running from (e.g. if you have network shares to multiple AbacusLaw by CARET installations on the server).
Ensure AbacusLaw WorkStation Standard Setup [Version numbers].msi is Being Ran from the Same Folder
- Right-click on the AbacusLaw by CARET shortcut on the desktop, and click Open File Location.
- This will open the Abacus Programs folder used by the shortcut. Run AbacusLaw WorkStation Standard Setup [Version numbers].msi from this folder.
- Check the Date Modified
If the above did not work, look at the Date Modified column next to your AbacusLaw WorkStation Standard Setup [Version numbers].msi, and AbacusA.exe.
If you do not see a Date Modified column, switch your View in File Explorer to Details.
These dates should, in most cases, match (or, at least be no more than a week or two apart). If the AbacusLaw WorkStation Standard Setup [Version numbers].msi files are older than the date modified on AbacusA.exe, you will most likely need to re-run the AbacusLaw by CARET update on the server.
