The Write Up/Down function us used to Write Up or Write Down the total amounts of a Bill and/or to change the Lawyer Distribution of a Bill.
To access the Write Up/Down feature
Method 1: Open the Billing side of Amicus Attorney by CARET. Select either the Files or Billing module, then on the top menu select Actions > Write Up/Down.
Method 2: Open the Billing side of the File to receive the Write Up/Down. Select the Transactions button
, or on the top menu select Actions > Write Up/Down.
Applying the Write Up/Down
Within the AR Write Up/Down ensure the Invoice # is set to display the required bill receiving the Write Up/Down.
For a Write Down enter the amount as a negative, otherwise it is considered a Write Up.
E.G.: -100.00 is a Write Down; 100.00 is a Write Up
Method 1: Under the Change column enter the amount to change the Bill by. This will display the amount altered by, under the New Outstanding column.
Method 2: Under the New Outstanding column update the value. This will display the amount altered by, under the Change column.
Once the new Write Up/Down has been set, click Save to apply the change.
Under File Facts select Bills, and the new Balance will appear confirming the altered amount.
To adjust the Lawyer Distribution
Within the AR Write Up/Down click the Lawyer Distribution button.
Within the Lawyer Distribution screen click the <Click here to add a new Lawyer allocation> and enter the name of the Lawyer(s) to split the distribution with.
Under the Change column click the box beside the Lawyer to be reduced. Enter the amount the Distribution will be changed by. This will reflect under the New Unpaid distribution column.
Select the Lawyer(s) which the payments will be distributed to and enter the value to apply to that Lawyer. Repeat for every Lawyer to have the payment distributed to.
Once the total payment value has been distributed amongst Lawyers click OK, then Save to save the Write Up/Down and/or Lawyer Distribution.
